A master
or reference disc is the source disc by which all duplicates will be
made. If the master disc has errors, the duplicated discs will have
the same errors. EZ-disc.com cannot be held liable for bad master discs,
so your objective is to create a master disc that is error free. Here
are some tips to help you accomplish that.
SETUP
Assuming you are creating the master disc on a computer, ensure the
computer is completely dedicated to burning the master. Restart your
computer if you have to. Close all other applications, and dedicate
that session solely to burning. Set the recording software to the slowest
available burn speed (i.e. 4x, 8x etc). Use name brand media, stay away
from cheap CD-Rs/DVD-Rs
FINALIZE
THE SESSION
When you create your master disc, the disc must be "Finalized,"
or "Closed," in order for other readers to be able to play
it. Prior to actually burning the disc, look through your recording
options. There should be a section to Finalize or Close the disc after
recording it. Select this option, in most cases, it is selected by default.
Once recording begins, the computer should remain untouched until the
disc is finished.
VERIFY
The disc will most likely play on the CDROM drive that recorded it,
so play the disc on a few difference players. Example - your car CD
player, home stereo system, other computers, etc. Listen to the disc
completely and make sure there are no errors or skips. If it is a data
disc, view the files or play the movie.
SEND
IT!
Use a sharpie to label the disc, place in protective case, tape shut,
and send in bubble wrap envelope.
